Introducing NP Navigator

Oct 10, 2024 · Doximity

At Doximity, we want to provide the most accurate information to help nurses decide whether to return to school—and where to apply. With over 60% of U.S. NPs as members, we’ve got some good data on what it takes to become a nurse practitioner.

NP Navigator is a comprehensive Nurse Practitioner school directory with all the information nurses need to research, evaluate, and rank NP programs. It was built with the help of our thriving community of nurse practitioners. NP Navigator combines thousands of reviews of over 800 U.S. programs with salary, cost of living, and other data, offering a comprehensive, searchable guide to help nurses find the right school. Nurses can also save their favorite programs and add notes that they can come back to during application time.

Our NP members evaluate programs across multiple dimensions, including career preparation, career guidance, certification exam preparation, workload, value, and overall recommendation. We combine these quantitative evaluations with reviews from NP program graduates to provide the most accurate assessment of each program. Nurses and nursing students can read the reviews to understand how the program structure works in practice, how involved the professors are, and what types of preceptorship support are available.

NP Navigator also includes salary data submitted by over 40,000 nurse practitioners. Doximity provides this information so that nurses can understand their compensation potential. Unlike other sites that look at job postings or provide state-level trends, the salary information in NP Navigator comes directly from program graduates.

With many programs now requiring minimal in-person time, candidates are less geographically constrained. NP Navigator allows nurses to search by program quality, size, degrees granted, and areas of specialization. To stay local, nurses can search by state or region. For nurses looking for flexibility, NP Navigator supports searches by blended learning style—from 100% distance learning to fully in-person.

We’re excited to make this tool available to support future NPs! We welcome feedback from nurses and nursing students at support@doximity.com.
